Willie Nelson Feeling Better After Confirmed Flu – Reschedules Cancelled Shows

Willie Nelson is feeling better after suffering from the flu and having to stop down a show near San Diego Saturday evening (1-6), unable to make it through the opening song, “Whiskey River.” Willie’s Harrah’s Resort SoCal show became one of six shows Willie was forced to cancel due to the illness.

Though originally the illness was characterized as “cold or flu,” Willie Nelson’s publicist Elaine Shock confirmed on Wednesday (1-10) that it was indeed the flu Willie was suffering from. Nelson’s native state of Texas has been one of the hardest hit states for the current virus strain that is especially virulent in 2018.

The good news is according to close friend and famous DJ Bill Mack, 84-year-old Willie Nelson is doing better after the health scare. “I contacted Willie Nelson. He informed me he is feeling better! I told him just to lay back, relax and take it easy. He appreciates your concern, best wishes and prayers. Lots of you folks have the flu, I wish the same for you!” said Bill Mack in a Facebook post.

Another sign that Willie is doing better is they have already rescheduled the canceled tour dates for Willie’s affecting performances in California and Nevada. Willie will now make another West Coast swing in October. Willie had a similar health scare this time in 2017, but was able to pull through it and log a full calendar of performances. Nelson has said more than once that he plans to die on stage, so folks hoping the country legend will take it easy and live out his final years comfortably may be disappointed.

Willie’s next set of scheduled shows starts on February 7th at the Macon City Auditorium in Georgia, and stretches through the South and Florida for an eight-day run.
