Don’t Sleep on These Spring 2023 Tour Dates for 49 Winchester

How often have we seen people here in 2022 complaining about how they can’t secure tickets to see folks like the Turnpike Troubadours, Tyler Childers, Billy Strings, and a growing list of artists who are quickly outgrowing venues and ending up in arenas, and still tickets are super expensive, selling out immediately, and landing on the secondary market for $700.00?
The warning was issued for these performers in years past, and it’s going out for 49 Winchester now: Go see these dudes in intimate venues for pocket change while you still can, because that won’t be the case for very long. These boys from Virginia have been topping end-of-year lists and threatening to become the next band to blow up big time in independent country music.
49 Winchester have kept their touring mostly resigned to certain markets up to this point. That’s all going to change in the spring of 2023, including hitting some states and venues they’ve never hit before, specifically targeting New Mexico, Arizona, and making their first appearance in California at the Stagecoach Festival in Indio.
They also will be making big appearances at the Railbird Festival in Lexington, Kentucky in early June (Sold Out), as well as Under The Big Sky Fest in Montana in July (Sold Out). Some dates on the 49 Winchester tour are already sold out too, so don’t sit on your hands with this one.
A few years from now when 49 Winchester is packing out venues coast to coast, you’ll be kicking yourself if you missed an opportunity to see them when you could see the sweat rolling off their brows and shake their hands afterwards.
Tickets for the new dates go on sale Friday, December 16th at 10 AM local time.

I like 49 Winchester. I just wish as an act that presents itself as a group that we could hear some harmony singing. Maybe they do on some songs I haven’t heard. But if I am correct, they might become the Brooks and Dunn Duo of the country music “group”.
No knock. I am a fan all the way. They a carving out a great future.
By the way, ERNEST’s song “Comfortable When I’m Crazy” is a darn good song with good-to-the-soul steel guitar.
Yes, although it has a ways to go, there is some good stuff on mainstream as the tide continues to turn. It’s not just offbeat independent artists releasing good stuff. How about some more reviews on, cough cough, mainstream?

I reviewed Ernest’s album, which includes “Comfortable When I’m Crazy,” and had some complimentary things to say about it. I also reviewed his song “Flower Shops.” I have my “Best Mainstream Albums” list coming up shortly. I reviewed over a dozen mainstream albums this year, and I think I hit most or all the good ones. I definitely try to make sure the mainstream doesn’t go ignored.

Excellent. Look forward to the list.

I think 49 Winchester would consider themselves a band, with a lead singer and accompanying musicians playing instruments. Closer to a Southern Rock band, than a harmonizing country or bluegrass group. Though the difference between band and group can be fuzzy.

Caught them earlier this year, not too long after FFTB came out. Show was fun as hell, and they played a great mix of of FFTB and III, encoring with an awesome cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition”.
One of my favorite shows I saw this year.
If they roll through your town and you’re on the fence, definitely go.

Saw them at Firewater Festival, Fun Band who put on a good show. Will definitely try to see them in Kansas City in May, oh so tempted to add the extra 4-Hour trip to Hays Kansas, love that song off their previous album. Fortune favors the Bold is my aoty.

Discovered them thanks to SCM, looking forward to seeing them in Tucson. That week will be a badass week of music in AZ with Tyler Childers/Charley Crockett on Monday, 49 on Tuesday, and Sierra Ferrell on Thursday

Those are some awesome artists! I’ve been lucky to see all of them at the Grey Eagle here in Asheville. Saw Sierra there a couple times and I’ll see 49 again there in February.

Love these guys and appreciate the love they’ve been showing South Carolina. From May, 2022 to March, 2023, I believe they will have performed in SC on 6(?) different occasions. Can’t wait to catch their next show!
Side note: few months late but would love a review of Vandoliers Self-Titled if things slow down for you here at the end of the year. One of my favorite releases of the year!
Lastly… any official word on upcoming music from Mike and the Moonpies? I’ve now seen them personally make reference of new music twice this week on social media.
December 14, 2022 @ 11:05 am
I expect new music announcements from both the Turnpike Troubadours and Mike and the Moonpies very early in 2023.

Saw them 3 times, once in beginning of year then twice last month. All times were great but you felt like they were hitting their stride in November. I told my friend that went with to enjoy it because they aren’t playing these venues again

UGH. Northern CA is somehwat dry when it comes to real country passing through. Though John Pardi well be in my town…

Saw them a few months ago at a club in Milwaukee. It was an excellent show except for the frat-boys up from Chicago that would not stop shouting out songs to play. They definitely are hitting their stride. Also saw them last January during Mile O Fest in Key West at a small outdoor venue and they rocked there as well. The plus is there were no douche-bags yelling out for songs! Agree, see them now while you can.

It seems Canada never gets to “good” bands to come up north. No 49 Winchester, no Turnpike, no American Aquarium etc
