Hank Williams Jr. Announces 2022 Tour Dates
This story has been updated.
Hank Williams Jr. … excuse me … now Country Music Hall of Famer Hank Williams Jr., will be heading out on tour in 2022, and will give his fans the opportunity to celebrate his recent Hall of Fame induction on an expanded list of dates. A least, they’re “expanded” from what we’re used to from Hank.
You see, Hank Jr. doesn’t play a whole lot of live engagements these days. He’d rather be in a deer blind or on a turkey shoot, or beside a body of water with a pole in his hand. But he will be will be getting after it this summer, and rest assured these tickets will be sought after by hungry fans. Though Hank Jr. played 25+ dates in 2019, he only played one in 2020, and nine in 2021.
“It’s about that time, and you better believe I’m ready brothers and sisters. We’re bringing some blues, some rock and some country back to country,” the always boisterous Hank Jr says.
He’s a man of few tour dates, and few words these days. His entire Hall of Fame induction speech lasted a total of 1 minute, 47 seconds. But as those who’ve seen him in concert can attest, he brings the energy, even at 72.

The Beaver Dam concert w/ The Kentucky Headhunters never got out of presale (they sold all their inventory before it got to the general public).

Wow. When Bocephus played the now demolished “Checkerdome” in StL in Aug. 1990, 32 years ago, the KY Headhunters were the opening act, and the young glendel saw them join Hank in his encore. He must feel extra comfortable knowing that they’re reliable support.

The Headhunters put on a heck of a show. That’ll be a good’un.

Heck, I figured Hank was just playing the county and state fair circuit these days. Good for him.

My husband surprised me with tickets for our anniversary on the 3rd!!! I absolutely can not wait! It’s a dream come true to see him in concert. He’s been an idol of mine since birth! 💯❤️❤️

Hank has not needed to hit the road as frequently as a lot of other performers, because a country boy can survive.

True, but the pressure is on from those with a country state of mind here in the new south. The brothers of the road all share a debt to their fans, even if they’re lone wolves. The man of steel needs to make some major moves so those of us who haven’t attended a concert can see what it’s like to be born to boogie. All his rowdy friends might have settled down, but some of them still want to come over tonight.

I got to see Stapleton open for him in ’16
I wouldn’t have gone just for either one, but for both at the price, worth it
Or it would have been if i could have enjoyed it
Outdoor show, rainy, and so many boozers around you couldn’t hear hank for the screaming. stapleton at least i could hear. i esentially got to look at hank
plus the outdoor seats were on such a hill that after raining all day it was a muddy slip and slide and i spent more time watching an endless parade of drunks slide by where i was standing than i did watching hank
still worth the money to say i got to do it
but David Frizzell put on a better show to a crowd of 150
18 Dales and a dozen comments

Likely requires vaccination. I’m out

I think we stopped doing that (maybe not in major cities??). We went to a show last Saturday … no card, no mask requirements. We didn’t even think about needing those things until we got to the venue. It wasn’t an issue. I haven’t seen any vax requirements for any of the recent show announcements. It’s over.

Just in time for the Ukraine drama and long enough before midterms that the average voter will conveniently forget.
Amazing how it just “ended.”

Dang, Trig. You deleted my reply to CK. It would be cool if you had some way for us to converse with people without getting censored. Like a message board or a direct messaging system. Like it or not, a ton of your readers enjoy talking about world events, politics, etc.

It would also be cool if Trigger could come over to your house, take out your garbage, and make your bed. A ton of readers would no-doubt enjoy that.

Facebook and Reddit are always available for those more interested in “debating” ideologies than music.

Acca Dacca,
I know, but with the exception of a few readers, Luckyoldsun, for example, most SCM regulars are a pretty articulate bunch, and make for better conversations. I wouldn’t be caught dead on FB, Twitter, or Reddit. I’m a high-brow cracker.
By the way, what the heck does your handle mean?
Acca Dacca
March 10, 2022 @ 1:44 pm
I don’t care for those sites, either, but it seems to be what they’re for these days.
My handle is a nickname for the rock band AC/DC in their native Australia. I figured it would be unique enough on a country music website that I wouldn’t ever need to change it. Also, AC/DC is one of my favorite artists of any genre, so I thought it appropriate.

Without getting too political, the punk shows that require vaccination are so funny to me. 2 years ago those guys hated big pharma
King Honky Of Crackershire
March 9, 2022 @ 7:03 pm
That’s because 2 years ago, they were told to hate big pharma. Once big pharma could serve a political narrative, the elites flipped the script, and the Pasty-Whites obeyed. They love to obey.

Folks, let’s not get into politically divisive subjects here please.
For the record, there is no indication these concerts require vaccination. Certainly don’t think that’s something Hank Jr. would be behind, though it might be required at the venue. Check locally for more info.

I saw him once, years ago, in Dallas, at an outdoor venue. We had great seats maybe 10 rows from the stage. It was so loud, my date and I went to stand on the hill …. but he did put on a show, I’ll give him that. Oh, and I do like his style and his music and attitude.
I don’t see any Texas dates… maybe he doesn’t have a fiddle in his band…. 🙂

Saw him for the first time last summer in Topeka, Kansas. Pretty good show, would have been better if I could have heard the words better, the band was too loud and it drowned out the vocals.

I checked out the show in beaver dam, only resale tickets and they are quite high. I’ve seen Hank a couple times but it was back in his prime.

Those tickets never made it to the general public. They sold all their inventory in presale (it wasn’t hard to get the PW). I’ll keep an eye on them and if the resellers get reasonable, I’ll go. We saw Turnpike Troubadours — CANCELED —- Shooter Jennings and Chris Knight there a few years ago and had a real good time.

I didn’t even realize the head hunters were still around, are the original members still there? I always did like their music and are they still recording?

March 10, 2022 @ 8:58 am
No. But this lineup recently put out a new album. I faithfully listen to Hillbilly Jim’s Moonshine Matinee on Sirius and he faithfully plays Kentucky Headhunters and keeps everyone abreast with their ongoing. Otherwise, I wouldn’t know either.

Deer stand. Turkey blind. Fishing rod.

That could be the beginnings of one of those “list” songs. You should finish it and hawk it to one of the myriad singers of the “list” genre. You could make a fortune. Ha!

See, now that’s funny on a couple levels.
1. You’re just flat-out right; and,
2. I thought I was fixing said list.

I actually can’t believe that North Little Rock is on the list. Even country artists generally ignore the Natural State (or they go to some random town that’s always an hour plus away from me). Thanks for the article, it’s the first I’ve heard that he’s coming. I hope I can get tickets.

I’ve seen Hank Junior 13 times in Georgia . Sure would like to see him again in Georgia what would really be cool is the see Hank down in Apalachicola ,down on that redneck Riviera . either way I’ll make it to one of them ,diehard dedicated fan, still hoping I can shake his hand one day soon.

Say Hank, did you forget us here on Texas? We have more fans of yours than some of the entire states that you are going to play at
Please come to Texas and receive a True Texas welcome.
