Mike and the Moonpies are Hitting the East Coast / Europe

Mike and the Moonpies are one of the best live bands out there in all of country music, and if you disagree, you can meet me out by the bike racks after 6th period, and I’ll kick your ass in front of your sister and everyone else. Why these dudes aren’t blowing out arenas and making fans complain how Ticketmaster is screwing them over on the secondary market, it beats me. But as we’ve seen over the last year or so, that can change in a jiffy so it’s always smart to see bands like this in small venues when you can.
Speaking of, they have just released a slew of new tour dates, and in areas that have been salivating for these dudes to tour through. Like a bunch of stickup bandits on a meth binge, they’ll be flying up and down the east coast in January and February like crazy, playing some markets they rarely or ever hit. If you’ve been bellyaching that you never get an opportunity to see these dude’s live, this is your chance.
This same goes for you folks in Europe. If you want to see the real deal when it comes to American country music, accept no substitutes. April will see them playing all over the UK, along with The Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Germany.
On September 16th, they will also be making their debut at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville playing with Reckless Kelly and Jason Boland.
And while we’re on the topic, Mike and the Moonpies are probably about due for new music sooner than later. Don’t be surprised if early 2023 sees a new song, and perhaps a new album. Keep your antenna perked.
Mike and the Moonpies have been named the Best Live Band in country by Saving Country Music multiple years, and are ones not to overlook when they come through town.
Mike and the Moonpies Tour Dates:
09 Jan – The Musicfest at Steamboat 2023 – Steamboat Springs, CO
25 Jan – Mile 0 Fest 2023 – Key West, FL

CC, they played Southgate House in Cincy about 3 years ago over New Years weekend. I was there to see it. Maybe 50 people at that show, maybe less. .
December 16, 2022 @ 7:18 am
Did they play the big room? I saw them at The Burl in Lexington late 2021 and they close to capacity which is around 300 I think. Lots of big fans in the audience. Disappointed to see they won’t be coming though the area. There’s a three week gap in their schedule late Feb early march. Maybe we’ll get lucky and they add some dates in there.
December 16, 2022 @ 7:37 am
Yes, the big room. Imagine 50 people in that….it was weird. On the other hand, lots of room for dancing, which is a rarity at these club shows. As I recall, there was fireworks over the river after,
and us and the band hung out watching and chatting. Catlan and Omar had great stories they shared.
December 18, 2022 @ 2:49 pm
No Ireland, either – Omeara’s a great venue, though!
December 15, 2022 @ 10:46 am
Stoked for the Nijmegen show. 100 cap venue. Perfect!
December 16, 2022 @ 6:26 am
Same here for Groningen. Glad to finely get see them after the show being postponed because of Covid.
December 15, 2022 @ 10:50 am
We can’t wait to see them in Winston Salem, NC. Very honored they’re making us a stop on the tour!
December 15, 2022 @ 10:59 am
New England forgotten, as per usual, so I’ll be driving to Philly
December 16, 2022 @ 7:31 am
See you there!
December 16, 2022 @ 12:34 pm
Me too.
Saw them in NYC around 2019 and they were great
December 21, 2022 @ 8:29 am
Philly usually gets skipped too. Think this is only the second time they will have played here.
See ya down here!
December 21, 2022 @ 8:41 am
Second sellout of tour. You guys must be starving for moonpies
December 21, 2022 @ 2:39 pm
Surprisingly small venue.
December 15, 2022 @ 11:04 am
Naturally, I’m out of town when they are in Virginia/Maryland and I already bought tickets to the 49 Winchester show in Richmond on 2/3 (when Mike & are in DC). Pearl Street is a great venue!
December 16, 2022 @ 6:12 am
We’ll be at the 49 Winchester show in Richmond! Going to be a blast in a small venue.
December 15, 2022 @ 11:09 am
Can’t wait to see ’em in Richmond, VA!
December 15, 2022 @ 12:33 pm
Me too. Can’t believe it’s only 15 bucks with Rob Lienes
December 16, 2022 @ 6:13 am
We’ll be at this show and the 49 Winchester show in Richmond! Going to be a blast in a small venue.
December 15, 2022 @ 11:20 am
Is it a marketing/management problem that has seemed to have kept them from playing larger venues and getting greater visibility? It is a wonder to me.
December 15, 2022 @ 1:10 pm
A good team can help, but so much of this stuff just comes down to timing and blind luck. Zach Bryan blew up before he had anyone in his corner. It took the Turnpike Troubadours basically breaking up before they found the level of popularity we all knew they deserved. I hope 2023 is huge for Mike and the Moonpies, and all I know to do is to keep touting them at every turn, and hope they catch fire. The talent and appeal is certainly there, both live and with their recorded stuff.
December 15, 2022 @ 1:52 pm
I think Mike and the Moonpies lack the wider more mainstream appeal that has caused artists like Zach Bryan and TT to blow up. Family members who would never listen to country music have asked me if I have heard of Zach Bryan, but the Moonpies are too country for that.
December 15, 2022 @ 2:14 pm
You say that, but I’ve been blown away watching the super niche music of Colter Wall and Sierra Ferrell explode. Mike and the Moonpies might not be the Turnpike Troubadours or Zach Bryan in being a great transition band. But just about anyone exposed to them live ends up walking out singing their praises. I just think they need a chance, and they could explode.
December 15, 2022 @ 6:30 pm
Keep championing their cause. They are great.
December 15, 2022 @ 4:32 pm
A friend of mine is very close with a Vandoliers and was embedded with them for a couple weeks with Mike and the Moonpies earlier this year. Some of the venues were pathetic. She would send me pictures/videos. The one I asked if they were playing a nursing home. She said it was a listening room.
I don’t get it.
December 15, 2022 @ 6:23 pm
Oh man, Hop …
ROB LEINES touring with M&M’s.
🔥
December 15, 2022 @ 7:12 pm
In what city shall we meet up?
December 16, 2022 @ 5:24 am
I’m down for Skipper’s Smokehouse, but that is with Joshua Ray Walker, not Rob Leines
December 16, 2022 @ 5:33 pm
I saw clips of them playing at that venue you’re talking about. Room full of couches and everyone was seated. Crazy that on that same tour, they played the Georgia Theatre a week later. Really made me wonder why they’d book a listening room like that and if Vandoliers took their shirts off that night, like every other show.
January 4, 2023 @ 10:21 pm
I do think there’s an opportunity with marketing. Perhaps investing in current and quality recordings of live performances or an “artistic” live performance to showcase their skill, energy, and “cool” factor. Yellowstone and event media need to work with them. They are a consistent powerhouse and the world needs to know, dammit.

21 April – Privatclub – Berlin, Germany
*yay*
December 15, 2022 @ 11:25 am
Drove 4 hours to Macon, GA to see them back in October and was well worth the drive. Talked to some of the guys after the show and told them they gotta play a show in Greenville, SC sometime. So stoked they’re gonna be in Greenville in February for an already sold-out show!
December 15, 2022 @ 12:13 pm
Damn right Cap’n. That was one hell of a show too.
December 15, 2022 @ 12:01 pm
Birmingham on Valentine’s Day. Dang. Hmmmmm. How do I pitch this to the wife?
December 15, 2022 @ 12:02 pm
For me, usually concert season runs from April-November. There’s an incredible amount of shows early this new year. I’ve got Whiskey Meyers, 49 Winchester, and Town Mountain before Spring! And the hits keep coming.
December 16, 2022 @ 2:09 pm
What is Milkboy, in Philly, like?
Have been looking online
December 21, 2022 @ 8:34 am
Holds 200 people.
Cool venue, but it is very narrow. Bar and bathrooms are at the back. And if it’s packed in there and you have a spot close to the stage, it sucks trying to get back up.
But, country doesn’t sell too well in Philly except for Tyler, Colter, Crockett etc sized acts.
December 21, 2022 @ 9:18 am
Thank you for the info.
December 15, 2022 @ 1:40 pm
As much as we talk about their world-class musicianship, props to their producer’s ear, manager Adam Odor.
December 15, 2022 @ 2:29 pm
Jack Rabbits in Jacksonville? Not the best venue, but I guess I shouldn’t complain.
December 15, 2022 @ 2:47 pm
Also 9/16 at The Ryman with Jason Boland and Reckless Kelly (RIP — gonna miss them). But what a line-up. I would fly across the country for that one, but have something happening that weekend I can’t miss.
December 16, 2022 @ 10:03 am
That’s the one I’ll be flying across the country to see!
December 15, 2022 @ 5:39 pm
They are my favorite band these days! Going to catch them in February for a few of these shows!!
December 15, 2022 @ 7:14 pm
Jack Rabbits, Jacksonville, Florida, 2 Weeks after My 63rd Birthday ! Woot !
December 15, 2022 @ 8:16 pm
I can’t believe they are coming to Ft. Pierce, Florida, 30 miles from my house! I saw a post from Gary Stewart’s daughter on Facebook last week about it. I am sure we will hear a steady dose of Gary’s music in his hometown again! I saw them last year at Coupland Dancehall and came away a fan.
December 16, 2022 @ 2:05 am
It`s gonna be a good year if you live in Hamburg, with American Aquarium, JP Harris & John R. Miller and Mike and the Moonpies all playing at Nochtwache, now Germany`s hot spot for real country and Americana music. These are the moments when I regret ever having left Hamburg 🙂 But as I still have a couch to crash on there, I shall at least make one trip there to see one of the above.
December 16, 2022 @ 4:29 am
Skipper’s Smokehouse, that’s what I’m talking about, I’ll be there with bells on with 30 other North Tampons who remember what real country music sounds like. I’ve played that stage many times though, she is a fickle witch.
December 16, 2022 @ 7:34 am
20th of April – First Mike & the Moonpies concert for me. Unfortunately there a not so much good concerts in Germany.
December 16, 2022 @ 4:46 pm
I really want to see Mike and the boys live and support them in this area but hate going down to the wharf in DC, especially in the winter. Never been to Pearl Street Warehouse but it seems like it’s near the anthem which is very inconveniently located for people who don’t live in the city imo.
December 18, 2022 @ 4:23 am
Going to Philadelphia show right in our backyard, road tripping to Richmond for that show. Seen them in Houston and twice in Nashville. Always a great show.
January 31, 2023 @ 7:47 am
Saw them at Jack Rabbits last night, Rob Leides was good too.
February 7, 2023 @ 9:23 am
saw them at Brooklyn Made last night. Phenomenal show. Good crowd too.
