Alan Jackson Updates 2020 Tour, Moves Some Dates to 2021
Alan Jackson remains one of the few major acts in country music who continues to try and navigate COVID-19 concerns to keep 2020 dates on the calendar, but there hasn’t been a lot of updates from his camp, or much clarity in rescheduled dates. So here’s a run down of what we know at this point.
On June 12th and 13th Jackson played a couple of drive-in shows in Alabama that by all accounts went really well, with top notch sound and satellite screens set up so everyone could enjoy the experience no matter how close or far they were from the stage. But dates scheduled for late June and late July in Tulsa, OK, Springfield, MO, and Cleveland, OH have all been officially moved to 2021 after numerous postponements. Another performance on July 24th in Monticello, IA at the Great Jones County Fair has been cancelled entirely along with the rest of the event.
However Alan Jackson’s concert dates in August, September, and October 2020 are still on at the moment, with tickets still on sale, including August 7th at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Being less than a month away and with surging Coronavirus cases in Nashville, it feels speculative that the show will go on, with August 28th in Detroit and August 29th in Green Bay, WI feeling iffy too. But at the moment, they’re still officially a go. Don’t be surprised in further dates get moved to 2021 soon.
One appearance that definitely won’t be happening is Alan Jackson’s headliner set at Stagecoach in California, which got moved initially from the spring to the fall, and has now been cancelled entirely for 2020 along with the Stagecoach Festival.
Dates are subject to change obviously, but this officially is how Alan Jackson’s live dates look at the moment. All previous tickets will be honored at the rescheduled dates.
–August 7 – Nashville, TN – Bridgestone Arena
–August 28 – Detroit, MI – Little Caesars Arena
–August 29 – Green Bay, WI – Resch Center
–September 11 – Des Moines, IA – Wells Fargo Arena
–September 12 – Milwaukee, WI – Fiserv Forum
–October 2 – Salt Lake City, UT – Vivint Smart Home Arena
–October 3rd – Denver, CO – Pepsi Center
–October 26 – Glendale AZ – Gila River Arena (moved from October 25th)
–February 5th, 2021 – Springfield, MO – JQH Arena (moved from June 26th, 2020)
–February 6th, 2021 – Tulsa, OK – BOK Center (moved from June 25th, 2020)
–July 9th, 2021 – Ft. Loramie, OH – Country Concert 20 (postponed in 2020)
–July 10th, 2021 – Cleveland, OH – Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse (moved from July 31st, 2021)

Given the current situations and government orders in almost every state due to the ongoing coronavirus, it seems ludicrous (at least, to me) for AJ’s team to maintain these 2020 show dates. Some folks might have travel considerations to attend these shows… and then there is the logistical arrangements (facility staff, concert seating, etc.) to consider. Why tease fans with “keeping” these shows on the books… and then to cancel them within weeks of the show? I dunno… just bite the bullet, toss the hat, and reschedule these shows now to ensure a more favorable date in the future. Perhaps these are shows that still under discussion for obtaining new dates in 2021? I hope so…

I agree We have been AJ fans for 25 years and purchased tickets for his August 28 show in Detroit at Little Caesars Arena last year With the Gov’s new Covid order they can only have 250 people in the place. I think it seats 19,000. I agree he should reschedule for sometime next year now ….we love him but we are in our seventies and not going near the place at this time

I soooo agree. We are in our 70’s and will NOT attend the August 29 Green Bay concert. We received these tickets as a Christmas gift and were so very excited with it. Please AJ, reschedule this concert for next summer. We want to see you and trust you will not contribute to the spread of COVID by traveling around the country. Please be responsible.

I, for one think it’s great! Been an AJ fan as long as he’s been around. If the world, especially Americans, would stop living like cowards and get on with life, it’d be great to see him perform again. Just sayin.’

I had two concerts scheduled that both got cancelled about 3.5 months in advance, both of which I had hotels for. At this point, it’s ridiculous when everyone knows pretty much those concerts aren’t happening, so why keep people who paid for tickets and might be traveling in the dark? This genre doesn’t need more unnecessary attention for bad reasons.

Give Alan a break. This isn’t their first rodeo.

I agree! I’ve been an AJ fan from the first time I saw him in concert 30 years ago! I bought my tickets & booked hotel in January for Springfield MO March date! Of course I was disappointed he had to cancel! But knew it was right choice for everyone! He tried to reschedule in June but quickly had to cancel that date! My new date is February 5th 2021. I’m not complaining at all! Was quickly refunded my hotel reservation!! True fans accept the fact that AJ loves his fans & Is just as ready to be back on stage as we are for him to be! So till then he has awesome videos on YouTube we can enjoy! Check them out❤️

August is SO not going to happen, covidiots are fucking up in the worst possible way. I live in Vegas and there is an anti mask PAC. Really. And a crazy spike in cases that is so bad they just closed the bars back up after they were open for a couple of weeks
I’ll be happy if we get an NFL season in empty stadiums and we get concerts back next spring.
Artists should be planning those drive in shows, either live or movie. Or just sitting home working on new songs.

More people getting tested means a ‘spike’ and naturally that means more positives. In addition the news never tells you the death rate is SO going down and has been for 2 months now. The curve has been flattened. If you don’t feel safe, don’t go to shows or the store or anywhere else without a mask. If you don’t want to wear a mask, that’s fine too.
Use this link and the CDC for your information instead of listening to Fox or CNN: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/covid-data/covidview/index.html

I don’t listen to Fox [ever, about any political topic] or CNN, I listen to health care workers. And they are really alarmed. In Houston they are putting non- infected adults in the children’s hospital to make room for all the new covid patients.
And, wearing a mask is to protect OTHERS, not yourself. So people who don’t wear them are selfish jerks, period. (And in Nevada, where our government has a clue, business who allow non masked people now get a $250 fine for first offense with escalating penalties thereafter.)

A few comments:
Yes, testing has become more widespread, but cases have also increased since early June as a percentage of tests, not just in absolute terms. This indicates that the surge in cases is real, which is backed up by hospitals in many regions starting to fill up again.
As for death rates, we have not really flattened the curve compared to other countries that faced major outbreaks, such as Europe (minus Sweden and the UK) and East Asia. Those places have reduced their daily death rates to well below 1 per million, while the US is running at a consistent 2-3 per million per day.
Finally, staying on the topic of death rates, the surge in cases is now starting to cause a rise in deaths as well. In particular, Arizona’s daily death rate is now worse than any other country. Florida, after months of experiencing a surprisingly low death toll, has now surged to a death rate rivaling Brazil, Peru, Chile, and Mexico, currently the hardest-hit countries in terms of daily death rates.

We went from 3+ million estimated U.S. deaths to 60,000 estimated deaths to 125,000 deaths and now we’re not even concerned about deaths but about “cases.”
We are testing the F out of everyone now.
I see drive thru covid test centers all the place.
Yea, logically you’re going to find out there’s a lot more people infected then we realized.
That’s not the issue.
It’s the fatality rate.
The shut down was not to stop the virus but to mitigate the spread so to avoid overcrowded hospitals.
The virus is coming through no matter what.
So far it looks like you have a 99.9876645% chance of surviving.
End the shut down.
Individuals in a free society should be free to choose what risks they are willing take.
Those who are that concerned or vulnerable are free to stay home and lock themselves in room and grub hub themselves to obesity.
Seriously, I’d be way more concerned about cardiovascular disease.
That kills 647,000 Americans every year and 80% is totally preventable.
Take your mask off stupid and go hiking or running.
Get some vitamin D and eat healthy.
Your immune system is going to defeat the covid-19.
Not your stupid make shift mask made from some left over cloth material.

There is so much misinformation in this comment, that I originally thought about posting a point-by-point reply. But then I clicked on the link on your handle, and I noted that you are a hotel owner.
Hmm, vested interests much?

People think you’re either dead or recovered. This does not take unto account all the people who have permanent lung damage, strokes, neurological damage and other problems for the rest of their lives. Someone I work with had it, “recovered,” but 2 months later his feet still hurt badly and are permanently a strange color. Most other countries have this under control, we are totally fucking it up because of selfish assholes who won’t wear a damn mask.

What’s going on with the hospitalization and death rate, Dee? Its amazing how few questions people ask that differ from a media narrative.

Florida, Texas and California all just had their highest daily death rate ever. We are lucky that Nevada Governor is not an irresponsible moron, he is doing the best he can to keep a lid on things

True they have record daily deaths, but looking at the numbers, it appears that those three states’ record daily deaths combined are about half of what we in NY suffered each day in mid-April at our peak. Hopefully those states learn from our mistakes and never approach our levels. Relative trends are important, but so are absolutely comparisons.
Unfortunately, even here in NY masks are not as common as you’d hope. I’ve been to downtown Yonkers (the largest city in Westchester country) each weekend since I emerged from my house Memorial Day weekend and have been alarmed at the lack of masks and distance. Crowded tailgating in parking lots like there was no pandemic. It’s been six weeks though (maybe more since my observations started then) and cases have not followed, fortunately.

You guys and Cuomo, did a good job and your stats prove that. Unfortunately you can’t fix stupid and there are all those people who still won’t cooperate. Most European and Asian countries are pretty much done with the nightmare and America is still spiking like crazy.

As a Cuomo voter even I have to admit he did not do a good job with the virus. Having said that there was a lot we didn’t know in the beginning so I’m willing to give him (and others) plenty of slack. I appreciate your kind words. Just not sure we are worthy of them.

Cuomo sending COVID positive elderly persons into nursing homes to infect and kill others is what you consider “a good job?”
Living and dying by your political party affiliation despite the facts is never a good look on anyone.

New York had zero deaths yesterday. They flattened the curve. Unlike Arizona which is running out of ventilators or Florida which is running out of ICU beds.

America we are all going thru these dark times! We are all Gods Children & should be turning to Our Lord & Savior to give Him Praise & thanksgiving! No matter who or what our lives were before our world as we knew changed forever we have to stand together now as one nation under God! United we stand divided we fall!
As fans we need to let our country stars we stand behind them!! I believe the outdoor drive in concerts are a great summer time idea for artist & fans! They need to get back to doing what they love & country fans love a great tailgate party to suppose our favorite country artist! Rural America fresh air music sure would help everyone’s moral & boost our economy! Sounds like a much needed good time!!!

On a slightly somewhat related topic, Trigger, have you heard ANYTHING from the Jackson camp regarding a new album. I know Alan released a new song a couple years ago but nothing since. Five years without an Alan Jackson album feels like an eternity

Big fan of AJ but isn’t it hypocritical for him to put on these concerts with no backlash while Chase Rice and Chris Janson get raked over the coals for doing the same thing and rightfully so?

July 12, 2020 @ 11:30 am
Same thing? Did you read the article. The concerts he has played were drive in shows. Future shows haven’t taken place yet, they probably won’t take place but for now he hasn’t been playing to a compacted crowd. Its really all there in the article.

Yeah I read it…I also saw video from his drive-in concert held in Alabama on the CBS Sunday Morning Show. No one was staying in their cars or back of their trucks. What I saw was no different than what took place at Chase Rice’s, Chris Janson’s shows or any other outdoor concert. People not practicing social distancing. So again isn’t it hypocritical for him to put on these concerts with no backlash while Chase Rice and Chris Janson get raked over the coals for doing the same thing and rightfully so?

I can’t understand why our country artist try to help fans enjoy an outdoor concert & do as much as they can to keep everyone as safe as possible outdoors & the media makes a big objection!!!!! But it’s perfectly ok & encourage its their right to “peaceful protestering” not practicing social distancing in huge crowds in major cities! The media glorify rioters destroying anything that America stands for!!!! I’m sorry if this offends anyone! I’m sick of this hypocrisy to our way of life!! There are a lot of false positives in these (covid) tests.
Whether unintentional flaws, or by design.
And before people come unglued, do a little research.
Also, before making generalizations/blanket statements, do some research.
Exactly what hospitals, by name, in the different states, are running out of ICU beds?
Have many friends in the health community, in Miami, St. Petersburg, Tampa.
They are not running out of ICU beds there, nor in Orlando.
And, out of respect for TriggerMan, going to stop right there
