Outlaw Country Cruise Announces 4th Annual Lineup
Yarr there matees, it’s time once again to peruse over the lineup for the annual Outlaw Country Cruise, and ponder just exactly how “Outlaw” it is to board a luxury cruise ship bound for an exotic tropical destination, or if seawater will ruin your favorite black leather vest. As juxtaposed as it seems, don’t fool yourself into thinking that if you didn’t have a chance to ship out on this, you wouldn’t bite on it like a barracuda on a wounded minnow.
Operated by the promotional company Sixthman who also puts on the the Americana-themed Cayamo cruise and other music-themed cruises, the Outlaw Country Cruise is now in its 4th year. As you can tell by the lineup, the Outlaw Country Cruise very much identifies itself by SiriusXM’s Outlaw channel, of which Steve Earle, Roger Alan Wade, Shooter Jennings, Elizabeth Cook, and Mojo Nixon are all DJ’s on. Along with multiple performances by each artist, the cruise features artist-hosted activities, live radio broadcasts, collaborative performances, autograph sessions, free meals, theme nights, and other stuff.
The full lineup of the 2018 Outlaw Country Cruise includes:
Drive-By Truckers, Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle & The Dukes, Margo Price, The Flatlanders (Joe Ely, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Butch Hancock), Bobby Bare, Nikki Lane, Terry Allen, Old 97’s, Reckless Kelly, John Doe, Dan Baird & Homemade Sin, Bobby Bare Jr., Dale Watson And His Lone Stars, Jesse Dayton, Jason D. Williams, Webb Wilder, Rosie Flores, Deke Dickerson, Hellbound Glory, The Mastersons, Jo Harvey Allen, Jonathan Tyler, Laura Cantrell, Heybale!, Folk Uke, Bonnie Whitmore and Buick 6
As well as SiriusXM Outlaw DJ’s Shooter Jennings, Elizabeth Cook, Mojo Nixon, Paula Nelson Band, Dallas Wayne, Jim Lauderdale and Roger Alan Wade.
The Norwegian Pearl will embark for a 5-night cruise between January 27th and February 1st from Tampa, FL en route to Great Stirrup Cay in Nassau, Bahamas. For more information, get your salty ass over to OutlawCruise.com .

There’s nothing more outlaw than Norwegian cruise lines. Nothing.

I also get a kick out of the 70,000 tons of metal – heavy metal cruise every year. They actually always have some great metal bands but I just like to picture a black metal band in full makeup (sorry…’corpse paint’) sitting at the bar drinking pina coladas through a twisty straw.

Well Travis at the end of the day it’s all just entertainment by entertainers isn’t it. I always got a kick out of people thinking that Slayer actually spent time devil worshiping when all they actually did was watch football and drink beer. You can be multi faceted and drink pina colodas and be in a metal band. Or like Cody Jinks, be in a metal band and say “hey let’s try this Country thing instead”. Thank God he did….LOL

Quite a few of the womenfolk onboard, which is a good thing, not simply for proportional representation, but also for different perspectives on “outlawry”.

So, perhaps you can offer me a job with the cruise, with some kind of karaoke show where the passengers get to sing and where I can sing cover songs, primarily George Strait songs. Check out my You Tube channel: Tom Kitch. Type: tom kitch george strait and see what appears.

We waited for the line-up and booking info as long as we could so we could book the outlaw cruise and then the legendary rhythm & blues criuse
https://bluescruise.com/32-feb-2019-eastern-caribbean/
which was 2 days later from Ft Lauderdale but airfare was
going up and we couldn’t wait so we booked to Ft Lauderdale for a 7 days music cruise, oh well.
There’s always next year
Would have made a great couple of live cruise music weeks

Is there anything more mainstream than the word “outlaw” at this point?

There’s not a single mainstream artist in the lineup of this cruise.

The last thing I would want to be is stuck on a boat with Mojo Nixon. Deal breaker…

Now that made me laugh.
I went on Cayamo on 2011 on the same boat. I bet I saw Steve Earle walking around every day, which was pretty cool. I can imagine seeing, and worse, HEARING Mojo Nixon every day on this one. The boat’s big, but not big enough.

Helluva a lineup, but I’m saving my vacation time for Mile 0, Year 2.

It sounds both ridiculous and fun at the same time!

It’s priced so that the millionaires are the only folks who can afford it. Looked seriously at it last year took a few hours going through all the hidden fees, taxes, surcharges, mandatory drink packages, etc. I gasped at the final number, it literally took my breath away…Another couple who wanted to go with us, had the same gasp. We realized we could go to Europe cheaper and see a lot more..
Funny, I used to think country music was the music of common people. Apparently really wealthy folks are into “Outlaw” now, whatever that is. And yes I know it sells out. Oh well, I’ll go to some local shows and save the money.

Music Fans are getting older and that means they, as a cohort, have more money now.
It also means they won’t do a lot of the work to go to a show anymore, standing in line, standing in GA through 2-3 bands, etc., etc (we do fwiw)
Musicians’ incomes don’t derive from album sales the way they used to so they have to figure out different ways to generate income
VIP packages and cruises are a result of the coming together of the two
We always look at the VIP packages because at some point, the convenience factor might make it worth it. We always pass, too
