Charley Crockett to Play with Miranda Lambert at NASCAR Street Race

Wow, this is a pretty big national opportunity for Charley Crockett, and possibly the biggest of his career so far. Though late night TV performances are good for bragging rights and impressing mom, the truth is they just don’t move the needle like they once did when Johnny Carson was still around.
But NASCAR’s first-of-its-kind street racing event in its 75 years history will definitely draw some national attention, and Charley Crockett will be right there in the mix.
On July 1st and 2nd, NASCAR Cup Series will be holding their “Chicago Street Race” as part of the greater July 4th weekend, and have booked some major acts to play full sets as part of the festivities, including Miranda Lambert, The Black Crowes, The Chainsmokers, and yes, little ol’ Charley Crockett.
“We are proud to welcome superstars The Chainsmokers, Miranda Lambert, The Black Crowes, and Charley Crockett as we reimagine the NASCAR experience in the heart of downtown Chicago over Fourth of July weekend,” NASCAR says.
You see that? They called Charley Crockett a superstar. Usually these types of performance slots are reserved for mainstream pop country douchebags at NASCAR events.
The unprecedented race will consist of a 12-turn, 2.2 mile track snaking through the streets and past landmarks in downtown Chicago. Saturday July 1st will be the Xfinity series race, with The Black Crowes playing before qualifying and The Chainsmokers playing afterwards. Then Sunday July 2nd is the NASCAR race, with Charley Crockett playing an opening set ahead of a full Miranda Lambert concert before the race.
To see the concert in person, you need a ticket to the race. But even if you can’t be there, this is a cool event that will draw lots of attention, and put Charley Crockett’s name and music in front of a lot of folks. Stay tuned for broadcast info.
Charley Crockett recently graduated from clubs to theaters, and continues to gain ground as one of the hardest working guys in country music. Expect to see more opportunities like this for Crockett as the world continues to catch on.

Wonder if she’ll sing “Me and Charlie Talking” during her set. Glad to see Miranda and Charlie will also be at Willie’s 90th celebration.

You don’t get to see a large quantity of “landmarks” other than Buckingham Fountain, because the course just winds through Grant Park in a figure 8 configuration, but you can probably get up closer than you would usually be able to at a regular nascar race.
The general admission tix are not on sale yet, so I don’t know what they’ll be, but the cheapest non-general admission ticket [sort of reserved, with chair] starts at $418 total for the 2 days (including all races and all music).

here’s the map that nascar has shown: https://www.nascar.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/7/2021/03/24/Chicago-map-d2-1024×1024.jpg

So the drivers will be making both left and right turns? Cool!

There have always been road course races, they just haven’t historically been as popular as superspeedways or some short ovals. But I think this is the first time they’re doing it on city streets instead of a track.
The weight and suspension of the older racecars did not lend themselves to a road course but I believe the new ones are lighter and more agile so it might be more interesting to watch than before.

the general admission, which has now gone on sale, is $240.18 for the 2 days, so you’re paying $200 more for the chair when you buy a more expensive reserved seat.

He must be dating someone if Miranda is interested.

The IndyCar in Nashville is a pretty good draw for people who may not ordinarily watch a race because of its unique nature. This is going to be great for NASCAR and all parties involved. Really excited for Charley to get this opportunity.

Rad Hatter, the last time the Chainsmokers were in Chicago they played the exact same park (I intentionally did not attend), and brought out a couple of guest rappers as well as noted pop country star Kelsea Ballerini…
