Legendary American music drummer W.S. “Fluke” Holland has died. A titan and founder of drumming in popular music, W.S. Holland was Johnny Cash’s drummer for 40 years, and is considered by many as the “Father of the Drums.”

What has Dale been up to? He’s been setting up a second home in Memphis, Tennessee, and that comes through on this newest record, ‘Call Me Lucky’ on Red House Records, which among other Memphis-based tie-in’s was recorded at the Sam Phillips Recording Studio.

Johnny Cash’s guitarist for 30 years in his legendary backing band The Tennessee Three has passed away. Robert “Bob” Wootton, who replaced original Tennessee Three guitarist Luther Perkins in 1968, and worked with Cash all the way up until Cash’s initial retirement from touring in 1997, died on Sunday, April 9th at 3:30 p.m. in Tennessee.
The Legends of Sun Records exhibit will showcase many artifacts and much information about the original class of Sun Records stars, but one man, and one particular piece of memorabilia might be worth paying a little bit of extra attention to. W.S. “Fluke” Holland is not a name that is as familiar to music fans as the other big Sun Recordings stars, but his significance cannot be overstated.
