On Saturday and Sunday, October 1st & 2nd, the trio of Ward Davis, Clint Black, and Cody Jinks held forth from the Red Rocks stage in what has become an annual pilgrimage for some Cody Jinks fans. Though forecasts called for rain and thunderstorms both nights, luckily the weather cleared up by show time.

There has been a very cool kismet forged between country legend Clint Black and Cody Jinks over the last few years. It was through Clint Black that Cody was able to make his Grand Ole Opry debut in 2019, and Cody ended up being featured on Clint Black’s song about the Opry “This Old House” from that same year.

Texas-based country performer Paul Cauthen is supposedly putting this country music trend of telling people how country you are on blast in his new song “Country As *uck.” But like certain other parody songs, it’s guilty of the same crime it’s supposedly criticizing.

Certainly, when you first dive into ‘Mercy,’ there is sort of a Groundhog Day feel to it all. But the deeper you listen, and the more times you cycle through, the songwriting and the passion behind Mercy begin to reveal themselves more definitively, as does the album’s appeal.
Adam Hood, Caned By Nod, Cody Jinks, Josh Morningstar, Kendell Marvel, Mercy, Review, Tennessee Jet, Ward Davis
Just like Tyler Childers, Arlo McKinley, John R. Miller, and others from the depressed regions of Kentucky and West Virginia, Charles Wesley Godwin’s stories are forged through the authenticity of a local experience, but are worthy of being enjoyed by an international audience.
Cody Jinks spent the better part of May sequestered in the studio at the infamous Sonic Ranch just outside of El Paso, TX with his band the Tone Deaf Hippies, recording his next album ahead of hitting the road again with the full band after a long period away.

That’s right, Saving Country Music is brushing off this old feature, and featuring another name from the modern era of country music badasses in Cody Jinks after his recent run over the last few years has made him one of the most formidable names in independent country.

An Album of the Year winner doesn’t just have to be the best title of a given year. It has to be the best effort of an artist’s career. It has to be a career record where there’s confidence we’ll all be listening to it for years to come, and the title will act like a catalyst to catapult said artist into a new stratosphere.

From growling tracks to get your blood pumping, to some of the easiest country songs to ease into, to songs written with such searing insight you’ll be squeezing back tears, ‘Black Cats and Crows’ may have been inspired by bad luck and worse decisions, but it results in immense measures of good fortune for listeners.
Black Cats and Crows, Cody Jinks, Ray Scott, Review, Ward Davis
The protracted wait for new music from country music singer, songwriter, guitarist and piano player Ward Davis will soon be over, as he’s announced the release of his latest record Black Cats and Crows via Thirty Tigers, produced by the legendary Jim “Moose” Brown, and has released the title track.

Where in the world has Wade Hayes been? He’s been hiding in the same dark honky tonk on the edge of town as actual county music for the last decade or so. How country is his latest record Who Saved Who? The title track is about the love of his dog if that gives you any indication. That’s to say his newest album is unapologetically country.

During an era when we search for heroes and better alternatives, but the letdown and heartbreak you often feel as a true country music fan seems to linger around every corner, Cody Jinks has risen to become the artist who uncompromisingly delivers on the promises of his potential.
Casper McWade, Cody Jinks, Jaida Dreyer, Josh Morningstar, Rebecca Jinks, Review, Tennessee Jet, The Wanting, Ward Davis
Where Cody’s last album ‘Lifers’ seemed to focus more on his dedicated fans and the hardscrabble, blue collar lives they lead, ‘After The Fire’ is much more introspective and inward-looking. It’s about Cody’s struggle to balance music and life, trying to be a good husband first before becoming the big star some would love to see him become.

Well the cat’s out of the bag. We’re not just getting one new album from Cody Jinks in 2019, we’re getting two. The first we’ve known about for a while and is called After The Fire due out October 11th with what appears like a campfire shooting the middle finger on the front. Then the […]

If you’re looking for something to do this Labor Day weekend and you’re within a reasonable driving distance of Manchester, Kentucky, taking in the Manchester Music Fest August 29th to 31st may not be a bad idea at all. Now in its second year, the festival features a lineup that is capped off by the Turnpike Troubadours.

For years Cody’s huge beard has been a signature feature of the Ft. Worth-based singer and traditional country artist. It was just one of many bushy faces sported by a fraternity of performers that have all become close friends over the years, including Jamey Johnson, as well as regular tour mates Whitey Morgan, Ward Davis, and others.
